Now that java strings are mapped to python unicode objects modjy fills the WSGI environ with many unicode objects. I'm far from being an expert on WSGI, but from reading the PEP[1] looks like at least the all the HTTP_* entries should be str objects. One thing that breaks with the current situations are cookies.
